Chile-Bolivia with Photography and Weavings
Beyoğlu Municipal Art Gallery is welcoming ‘ALTİPLANO’ Chile-Bolivia Photography and Weavings Exhibition of Chilean photographer and architect Roberto Guerra Toledo from April the 22nd through May 17th 2014.
Highlands of Bolivia and Chile. World of Aymara and Quechua.
World of Ands’.
The ancient world, a world which is in touch with the universe and the blessed.
World of indigens, wisdom, loneliness and the world of inner journeys and the world of the relations of entertainment, celebrations, rituals with nature.
The world which I have lived and shared for four months in highlands of Northern Chile and Bolivia with shepherds and peasants.
The world that I would like to share and show from my perspective with my photographs and with the weavings that they have made, reflects their perspective and their vision to the World.
This vision provides to become integrated with mother of nature and Pashamama.
Images, glances, weavings, clothings of land... These are not the only wealth of Altiplano... I observed objectively, but I wanted to see all with the eyes of the land… Northern Chile'sloneliness, silence and dazzling views… Bolivia's rituals, festivals, musics, dances and sorrows in silent and forgotten small villages…
The world is holy and it is life and the source of life for shepherds and peasants of the Ands. Whatever there is in nature; animal, tree, river, stone, mountain, valley or a house, all have a holy spirit and a personality; if people approach them respectfully, gracefully, they also communicate back with people.
The images in this exhibition are dedicated to reflect the life there, harmony with the universe, moments of joy and sadness, celebration and working time… Not only the World itself, they wanted to introduce men and women who live with the world... They want to introduce nonstop walking people in the highlands who are thankful to holy Pashamama’s all fruits…
