BEYOĞLU MUNICIPALITY GETS THE MOST RELIABLE PROJECT AWARD
The evaluation was performed by the World e-Government Organization held in China. Presidents or representatives from 34 different countries in 67 cities attended to the meetings. “Social Card and Food Banking" project of Beyoğlu Municipality was elected for "The Most Reliable Project" award on international level. The award was presented to Beyoğlu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan.

WeGo, an organization founded by Seoul Metropolitan Municipality of South Korea with attendance of numerous local governments from all over the World, makes it available for local managements to share their e-Government technologies and experiences with each other. The first event was held in 2012, and the second was held in Chengdu, China between 3-6 November, 2014."Social Card and Food Banking" project of Beyoğlu Municipality was elected for "The Most Reliable Project" award, the most important award on international level.
IMPORTANT AGREEMENTS SIGNED
Beyoğlu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan, attended the WeGo Organization after signing "Friendship and Cooperation Agreement" with Bunkyo Municipality in Tokyo, Japan and "Disaster Project Cooperation Agreement" with Japanese International Cooperation Agency. Demircan personally attended the award ceremony. Presidents and representatives from 34 countries and 67 cities attended to the organization held in Chengdu, and they have discussed open government, open data and collaboration, improving e-Government technologies and problem solving.
Beyoğlu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan informed the participants on "Social Card and Food Banking Project" which has been active for long years. Demircan gave a speech after the ceremony. Demircan stated that people can now easily connect with each other internet and social media, and he added "Our inhabitants want to connect to the government the same way.
Like they are able to send some money, buy some tickets or make some payments easily from the internet, now they are expecting the same from the government. As a matter of fact, we have hard work to do. Expectations are high. In this complex government structure, we need to collect all the relevant urban information, store them in a transparent, accessible and accountable manner and meet our goals with open government, open data and collaboration".
THE GOAL: STATE AND THE CITIZENS COMING CLOSER
Mayor Demircan also stated now they need to consolidate processes managed by hundreds of people and added "Our goal is to bring the state and citizens closer, make their own data more accessible and create a prosperous society promoting public-private cooperation. As Beyoğlu Municipality, we have had considerable progress in setting up such a structure. One of the many projects we have in e-Government area is the Social Market Project. I am proud to be elected to receive this award here in World e-Government Organization".
After his presentation on WeGo General Assembly, Beyoğlu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan attended a round table discussion with other mayor. Mayor Demircan, gave some suggestion about how to effectively engage the public to the management and about smart city master plans. His suggestions were appreciated by WeGo member mayors. Demircan suggested one of the World e-Government Organizations to be held in Beyoğlu.
